Here is a self-help tool to help you release negative feelings for yourself.
Negative emotion release from your day or from a past event is so refreshing
It gives you freedom and a sense of power.
And of course, holding on to them gives the opposite. It can make you feel like you are in a prison.
Prison of the past, prison of other people's control, and prison of your emotions.
I truly believe that negative feelings that are attached to events and experiences, the ones that you are holding on to, are the reason of you being stuck in any part of your life.
We are an expert at holding on to feelings and memories that feed those feelings. And this on its own is an amazing skill. However, if those feelings are not serving you, then they're sabotaging your life.
Recognising the need to release negative emotions
The followings are examples of situations where negative emotion release may be needed, and would be beneficial.
- You are unable to control your emotions either regularly, or about a specific event or person
- If you have any past memories that are making you too emotional (you can't talk about them without crying)
- Perhaps thinking, talking or being around a specific person triggers negative emotions
- You are unable to achieve your goals, it almost feels "something" is sabotaging it for you
- Having trouble maintaining good relationships
- Stress level is rising or stays on a high level
- Physical illness or disease is showing up more often in your life
- Having trouble sleeping well
- You are lacking energy, joy, enthusiasm, confidence, self-esteem
Will I have to relive the trauma if I go for the negative emotions release?
No. The simple answer is no.
I have mentioned before that we are expert at holding on to feelings, and we are expert at pushing them down.
We were not taught what to do with a negative emotion and therefore we don't know how to really let it go, hence the issue of keeping them unwittingly.
For you to be able to let go of an unwanted emotion, you do have to welcome it, and accept it by allowing the feeling to come to the surface. However, there's no need for you to relive the trauma or the experience you had to begin with.
You don't even need to know what happened as long as you can access the feeling that is troubling you or stopping you to move forward.
What are the benefits of releasing negative emotions?
FREEDOM! This is the only way I can describe it. You will be emotionally free from the past, from people, and as a result, you will be able to see the world through different, more positive lenses.
Your present will be happier, more joyful, and you will be able to live freely and achieve your goals effortlessly.
